Tayal people live in central and northern Taiwan, they have a well-developed culture from fishing, hunting, gathering, and growing crops on burned-off mountain fields.
For the indigenous peoples who live in the mountains, the knife plays an important role in daily life. From clearing the patch when walking through the bushes in the forests to self-defense, hunting, and food preparation.
The unique upswept edge is great for working with the meat process, and the strong pointed blade will offer better penetration.
The Tayla is a mid-size knife featuring a 4.8" blade made of 0.15" Japanese SK85 high carbon steel. The knife comes with the skeleton tang for weight reduction. The blade is being carefully heat-treated to 56-58 with a double tempering process for maximum durability, flexibility, and also make easier for resharpening in the field.
Acid wash with black stonewash finish can prevent the knife from being rust easily in the file, however, we do recommend to clean and oil the blade after each use.
